SUMMARY:2022 CPSI Course
DESCRIPTION:NDRPA is excited to host the 20th annual Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) Course March 15-17 in Bismarck. Participants have the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in playground safety through classroom instruction and hands-on site investigation during the two-day course. Individuals interested in becoming a certified playground safety inspector may take the optional exam on the third day. \nDownload the schedule for details. \nREGISTRATION\nCourse Fee (includes all books): $410\nExam Fee: $115 \nRegistration is closed. Please contact the NDRPA office at 701-355-4458 with questions. \nLODGING\nA room block has been reserved at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center in Bismarck. Contact the hotel directly at 701-258-7700 for room reservations and ask for the “Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course” room block to receive the $99 rate plus tax. The room block deadline is March 2. \nREQUIRED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS\n\nAll participants will be required to complete a “Participant Health Liability Form” prior to entering the classroom.\nParticipants must wear a face mask throughout the course. Individuals with medical conditions may wear a face shield in place of a face mask.\nAll participants will have their temperature checked prior to entering classroom.\nA pre-packaged box or bagged lunch will be provided for each attendee to prevent the spread of contaminants.\nAdditionally\, all individuals should practice social distancing.\nClassroom areas and bathrooms will be disinfected before and after each class and during breaks including high touch surfaces: tables\, desks\, doorknobs\, light switches\, handles\, and chairs\, etc.\nRegistrants are asked to stay home and monitor their health if they have or have had contact with a person who has symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days prior to the course date. SUMMARY:2021 NDRPA State and ND Trails Conference
DESCRIPTION:The NDRPA State Conference and the ND Trails Conference will be held jointly in Bismarck Sept. 13-15\, encouraging conversations on “Navigating Our Future.” North Dakota park and recreation professionals will gather with trail users\, advocates and managers from across the state to learn from educational sessions and network with peers. \n Download the schedule for details. \nREGISTRATION \nThe registration deadline was Aug. 25. In her role\, she is responsible for the nearly $20 million national organization that works to ensure that all people have access to parks for health\, conservation and recreation. NRPA is the national voice for the protection and creation of local parks\, harnessing the passion and power of its more than 60\,000 members and the millions of individuals they serve. \n  \nJosh Askvig is the state director for AARP North Dakota. He had previously served as the associate state director for advocacy for the organization. Askvig has a broad background in advocacy and election work\, having worked on Capitol Hill\, as a campaign consultant\, lobbyist and appointee and serving two terms in elected local office as a Bismarck City Commissioner. He received his master’s degree from the Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University. He is an avid endurance athlete who has completed an Ironman triathlon and time qualified and completed the Boston Marathon. \n  \nChris Nunes\, CPRE\, is director of parks and recreation for The Woodlands Township in The Woodlands\, Texas. In his position\, Nunes oversees a $36.3 million operational budget and is accountable for the management of 148 parks\, 15 swimming pools and aquatic facilities\, and 220 miles of pathways. He speaks around the country on topics such as business plans\, contracting\, creative programming\, marketing\, external funding\, communication\, leadership and succession planning. \nMONDAY HIGHLIGHTS \nThere are several opportunities to enjoy Bismarck and the company of fellow professionals at the conference\, including four options on Monday afternoon. \nIt wouldn’t be the state conference without a golf tournament. Get ready to play beautiful Riverwood Golf Course. \nTrail enthusiasts will enjoy one of two field sessions. Ride the Rough Rider Trail on a mini ATV (Space is limited to 12 people\, and a helmet is required. Transportation will be provided from Riverwood.). Hike the Atkinson Nature Trail and experience a trackchair\, then take an interpretive walk through General Sibley Park. \nThe Downtown History\, Art & Spirits Walk features sights of downtown Bismarck. Tour Camp Hancock and the Former Governors’ Mansion\, hear chilling tales of Murderer’s Gulch\, and experience an art gallery and an art alley. \nMonday night’s social and dinner will take place at the Sertoma Club Community Center in Sertoma Park with yard games and more. \nRAFFLE ITEMS REQUESTED \nThis year’s conference will include a limited silent auction with a few select items and a raffle to raise funds for NDRPA scholarships. DESCRIPTION:The fifth annual Human Resource Conference for Local Governments is scheduled for April 18-19 at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck. The conference will feature: \n\n“Build Your Team”\, a motivational session presented by Lynn Beiswanger.\nA session on how to implement the human resource specific policies related to medical marijuana\, including a panel of experts.\nFifteen breakout sessions that address key emerging human resource issues.\n“The Keeping It Legal” presentation focused on all the various human resource law changes.\n\nRegistration is open on the new HR Collaborative website. \nScholarships Available  \nThrough support from the ND Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF)\, NDRPA is pleased to offer 15 scholarships for members to attend the conference. NDRPA agency members are eligible for one scholarship each to cover the conference registration fee ($200 per person) through March 1 on a first-come\, first-served basis. After that date\, any remaining funds will be available to members who have already received a scholarship but wish to send more than one staff or board member to the conference. All scholarship requests and registration forms/confirmations must be received at the NDRPA office by 5 p.m. CT on April 2. \nScholarship Requests  \nBecause NDACo is managing conference registrations and only NDRPA members are eligible for the scholarship\, there is no scholarship check box on the registration form. Individuals interested in becoming a certified playground safety inspector may take the optional exam on the third day. \nSponsorships from the North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department and the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF) make this first-class course\, hosted by the Bismarck Parks & Recreation District\, possible. \nScholarships Available \nScholarships are available to NDIRF and NDRPA members. The first 28 individuals to apply will receive a scholarship ($410 value) to cover the course registration fee. This means members pay only the $115 exam fee to attend. \nThe scholarship is limited to four people per agency and distributed on a first-come\, first-served basis.
